The secret heart of the tower

Set amidst rural Tuscany there is a small medieval village. Right in the center of the village there is a stone tower which seen from beneath it does not seem all that high. But I was assuming wrongly, I assure you, it’s much higher than what you would gather. And the climbing steps are countless, old steps and banisters as you hardly happen to see any longer. I can assure you so because those tiny steep steps I have climbed them together with Janneke and Dirk. Only once on the rooftop I then reminded that I suffer of vertigo.

While we were squeezed in an old Fiat 500 searching for characteristic cypresses tree-lined country roads I recollected countless memories. Memories of when I was I small child and I could comfortably jump and fit in the back seats. Today it proved slightly a harder task.

At the end of the fair the effort proved itself worthy since the view from the tower roof is truly impressive. And furthermore with Janneke and Dirk we had serious fun undergoing together the experience.

My first impression of the two of them coincided exactly with the last I had taking my leave from them: I was dealing with two true soul mates, those persons that when meet will never leave the other and good fortune made them understand that they had found each other.

Looking through my lenses while Janneke was preparing herself with her daughters I clearly understood how much thrilled she seemed. I asked her if she was nervous, Jenneke sincerely confirmed that she truly was. In that very moment I realised that after 18 years together you manage to get so excited the intensity of such a love is rarely to be found.

Thank you Jenneke and Dirk for allowing me to tell this story, at least a part of this story, and inviting me in your life path, even if only for a single day. I sincerely enjoyed myself. Deep in my heart I wish that when you will happen to go through your wedding photos you will be as happy as you were throughout the whole of this unforgettable day.
